Beta Build

To keep this short and simple, I have recently become interest in gaming. My PC now is not able to support the newer games and I am looking for an upgrade. I am looking at a gtx 770, but due to the recent price drop of the 280x I do not know which would be a better option.

These are the parts I have selected so far and I am open to suggestions.

I switched your memory out and the case from the black pearl to the blackout for an overall savings of ~$45.
That way you could spend the money else where if needed.

As far as which is better I'm not entirely sure. Sorry for not answering the question.

Thanks for the feedback. I like what you did witht the case and memory. The more savings the better. On another note do you happen to know of a motherboard that has onboard wifi?

As far as I know there is no AM3+ motherboard with onboard WiFi. On the graphics card, I like the 280x but I am bias because I don't like nVidia for what they charge.

But between the RAM the case and a 280x you have saved a bit and could go for a 990fx motherboard like something from Asus.

Or an SSD boot drive?

Just took another look. You really don't need a 750w PSu for that build unless you are going to go dual GPU in the future. So you could get a really nice 650w Gold or get a bronze and save more money upfront. Personally I would go with a gold 650w PSU.

Not for an AM3+ Socket motherboard, sorry.

Would a 600 watt psu be too little?

Or would these be better?

Probably not to little but other people are better versed in PSU quality than I. Best wait for them to give better advice.

600w is plenty for this build.

The Corsair TX650 is probably the best(in quality) out of all of those.

That MSI motherboard is very low quality.  There is minimal cooling on it and a weak 4+1 power phase design.  Switched it out to a board with a much better digital 8+2 power phase design.

When you have a dedicated GPU, clock speeds on RAM make no difference.  Switched it out for less expensive RAM.

You don't need anywhere close to 750w for this build.  It would run perfectly fine on 550w.  The power supply I picked is pretty good quality and is at a good price right now(cheaper than the 550w version, idk why)

Funny, I was just looking at the hive and was comparing the two when I checked the post. Thanks for the feedback and there is no need for better ram? (if I mainly plan on using the PC for gaming)

There is literally zero difference between DDR3-1333 and DDR3-2400 RAM for gaming when you have a dedicated GPU.

Also, I forgot to mention that the motherboard I've picked will be able to handle a 8 core AMD CPU, if you ever want to upgrade.
