I have been hosting my blog on GoDaddy for some time (worst mistake ever, should have just stayed with justhost.com) and I am wondering what the LTT community believe are the best web hosts as I don't want to be jumping hosts again after this.
No requirements, I just need to run a basic website I am building/coding from the ground up myself. Thanks!
I would agree with enko's advice and go with a VPS. You can configure it how you wish and there little limitations on what you can do with it, in contrast with shared hosting. However, one downside is that it does appear daunting if you are unfamiliar with a UNIX environment or the bash console, but to setup for a simple blog as you are planning it will take a small amount of setup. I would recommend RamNode or Linode.
Are you using RamNode? That was essentially the only other option I agonized over. Went with Linode because it seemed like a bigger shop.
Tried Azure - its dogshit. 1 pathetic core, fraction of bandwith, half the space and nickle and dime traps on every step of the way - for the same price as linode.
