Best way to install graphics drivers for GTX 770 on 15.04

Hey guys,

Finally I have got my Ubuntu GNOME working with my input devices but I always have problems with my graphics drivers. I have no idea how I should install them, I know that I must not download drivers online from the vendors but to instead use a repository. But I am not sure of what one to use and whether I should use the software and drivers section to install the proprietary option.

So should I use a ppa or the settings page?
What ppa should I use?
And what driver version should I use for a 770?

-Binary

I don't recall having to install drivers for my GTX 770 on 15.04 via terminal; I am sure it was either auto-detected and the nvidia binary driver installed or I just had to select it in the GUI instead of the open source nouveau driver after installation. Mine is currently set with the 346 driver which is/was the most recent in the ubuntu repository.

There is a bit more info here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia

Should I try to get the latest version of the driver from a third party repository or just keep using 346 from the GUI?

the nvidia 346 driver is working fine for my GTX 770, the newer drivers are probably focused more on the GTX 9xx cards and possibly some newer games. The same machine also has a Sabayon install which has a newer nvidia driver and kernel - there is little performance difference on bench-marking tools like Unigine Valley.

I have a GTX760 and running drivers 355.11 They work fine for me.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install nvidia-355

Thanks, does it matter what repository I use as long as it has the latest driver?
