Well, a wrist band would be the most reliable way out there. if you don't want to use one, just ground yourself out on something every few minutes.
Just make sure you ground yourself on a piece of metal every couple of minutes. Worked just fine for me.
keep your hand/arm on something metal at all times and before you touch anything sensitive
straps are actually less convenient than just holding on to your case
yeah, just touch the metal of your case every so often...
^ This. You don't need any straps or gloves or any other crap like that! Just touch the metal case frame from time to time and you should be good. I've built my PC and moved and replaced parts all without any gloves or wrist-straps. Nothing died on me yet.
The most efficient way would be using an anti-static wrist band. But getting grounded every couple minutes and avoid wearing woolen cloths it's just perfectly fine.
Just build your pc naked on a cold metal floor/table. Can't go wrong.
Well, you could go with.....^. Or you could just take off your socks and build your PC on a table with your feet on a metal bar touching the ground.
This ^
Avoid doing your build on carpet. Do it on tile or hardwood floors. The kitchen is a good place to do your build.
I find the best way, is to hide in the shadows. Waiting patiently. When the static appears, you jump out and repeatedly stab it with a knife.
This is how I deal with the problem...
work naked on the ground ;p
;p
I recommend the naked method.
You could just leave the power plug in the PSU with the switch off. Touch any bare metal on the chassis or the PSU itself to drain any existing energy. As long as you’re stationary you should not have to touch it again. Leaving the power cord in provides the quickest path to ground. You don’t have to get too carried away draining every 30 seconds, there were plenty of times I was careless.
