I would like to switch away from WMA which i have been using for some time now because its max resolution is 1440x1080. Today i tried to render a video to AVI only to discover that AVI files are INSANELY BIG! (about 18GB for a 14 minute video). So the question is, what is a good 1920x1080p video format that will play back video at 30fps at least and WONT make insanely big video files? Thanks to whoever can help!
(Also i apologize for any spelling/grammar mistakes)
Mp4/MKV x264 have high compression
i did a test for youtube a cuple of weeks ago 1920x1080 8mb/s bitrate 2ch 192 bit Ac3 30fps x264 Mkv

use h.264 codec. aso, tha sony avc mp4 codec works well too
h264 apparently because it is the native way they encode videos right now but to be honest "AVI" is not a format per se it is a container and uncompressed video streams (what you may have used on your AVI) are that big, but an Avi can be a DivX or Xvid Video with MP3 audio for example and that way files are of moderate size.
