Another simple one. Ive just realised I've got enough spare parts to build a decent am3+ rig, The only thing I'm mising is a processor, so I'm wondering which one you'd recommend for around £90. It'll primarily be used by my parents for light office work and web browsing and maybe a little gaming when I visit from uni on gta v, train simulator & spin tires.
So far, my choice had been wittled down to the FX 8320E, based on its reviews and incredibley fair price point.
FX-8320 or 8320E, depending on your power and thermal requirements for the build. I know the UK hardware market is a little inflated versus the US market, but you can pick up an 8320 at MicroCenter for about $130 USD so that fits perfectly into your 90 quid budget. For the duties you described you could probably use an FX-6350 as an alternative, fewer cores but higher clock speed for single threaded use.
If you plan on OC'ing the 8320e hands down. If your not then the 6350. Also check this out! the 8320 comes with a heat pipe cpu cooler and the 8320e comes with an aluminum block cooler. They are MUCH better then the one that came with the phenom however and I am fine with mine.
Thanks for your input guys :) I can get a good deal on an 8320, so I think, realistically, I'm gonna go for that at the moment.
However, as the PC will be used more by my parents, they have said they'll give me half of the money to go towards whichever processor I choose. Now this gave me a silly (but possible) idea: I already own an 8350 and its pretty solid, but if I could get hold of a 9590, I could keep that for myself and stick the 8350 in their rig.
It was established in another thread that the 9590 would not warrant the £179 upgrade, but the question is - would it be worth an £85 upgrade?
This might just be me being tired and a bit naive but what would you guys do? :)
