Best SSD under 200€\200$

Hello fellow syndicates!

I'm thinking on getting an ssd arround 250GB of storage to mount on my laptop i've searched for some ssds but i'm not shure what to get. here's the ssds that i've been searching on:

Crucial M4 256Gb

OCZ SSD Agility 4 256 GB

OCZ SSD Vertex 4 256 GB

SANDISK Extreme SSD 240 GB

or a Samsung 840 with 250GB

Can anyone give me an opinion on what to get? (you can suggest other ssd models)

Thanks in advance ;)

I have a crucial M4 and love it, used OCZ in the past and kept getting BSOD's from windows but that was probably fix. never used samsung or sandisk ssd's

I've done a ton of research into SSDs for the past half year. Based on the current market, as well as performance of the firmware, the top dogs are probably between:

Corsair Force GS ~ around $200 USD for the 240gb model.

Kingston HyperX and HyperX 3k - the former being more expensive. The 3k model is a bit cheaper than the Force GS, typically.

Strong contenders but typically considered slightly worse:

Corsair Neutron GTX - price point is around the same or typically higher than the Force GS. This is in theory Corsairs "top-dog" SSD, but in real world applications as well as benchmars the Force GS has it beat. HOWEVER, with future firmware updates this MAY become faster. Only time will tell! However, it is still very good and if you can get a cheap deal, why not. It uses a new controller, instead of Sandforce or Marvell.

OCZ Vertex 4 ~ this is a nice drive that crushes everything in IOPS but is behind both the Kingston Hyper X models as well as the Force GS, and even the Neutron GTX in real world applications and benchmarks. However, this drive is still very good. If you can get it for cheaper than the competition, why the hell not.

My recommendations to you would be either the Corsair Force GS 240gb, or the Kingston HyperX 3k, since both are around the $200 USD mark. The slightly superior Kingston HyperX NON-3k is usually around the $300 USD mark.

Dollar-per-gigabyte, and price-to-performance ratios therefore mark the HyperX 3k and the Force GS as the two best SSDs on the market right now, in my opinion.

I forgot to add, the Samsung 840 also rivals the performance of the Corsair and the HyperX 3k. Can't believe I forgot about it.

You will be really happy with any of those three. Just get whatever is cheapest that you can find!

Some other things to note:

- Kingston warranty is really good.
- Corsair warranty is really, really good (maybe better than Kingston?)
- I'm not sure about Samsung warranty... this is a dark horse for me.

So, with these things in mind I would still recommend the Corsair and Kingston over the Samsung. Hope this helps!

Thanks i'll look for that corsair they have some cool products!

Cheers ;)

Amazon has 240gb Force GS for $200 dollars right now, and 180gb for $157 I believe.

Newegg also has Force GS for $200, it's currently "on-sale."

Kingston HyperX 3k 240gb is going for $190 on most  major retailer sites I believe.

And Corsair do have some sweet products, I'm getting the Dominator Platinum RAM (the expensive, I-don't-need-it, overpriced stuff) and I can't wait. =D

From that list, Samsung 840 or OCZ Vertex 4.

No point getting the Vertex 4 with the HyperX 3k is BETTER and more often than not CHEAPER.

Sure, if you're moving around uncompressed files but not saying that's an uncommon scenario.

Otherwise Vertex 4 has better steady state performance and iops than HyperX 3k.

I would suggest one of these:

Corsair Neutron GTX

Crucial M4

Samsung 840

Patriot Wildfire

OCZ Vertex 3 or 4

Kingston HyperX

i'll toss in my 2cents here,

get the 3k. I've diagnosed alot of bsod problems for people, and the OCZ ssd firmware shows up pretty often. also, OCZ is having problems staying afloat, their stock is really low.

Crucial M4 or Samsung 840 from that list, see if you can find an older Samsung 830, they perform really well and are currently more trusted than 840's.

Crucial M4 is reliable as hell but performance is rather poor compared to current high-end SSDs.

The kingston hyperx ssds are great I have one myself and logan endorses them.
