Best SSD for under $300?

Hey guys im getting the Asus Zenbook Prime UX32VD and im replacing the hdd with an ssd. I have my eyes on a couple, like the OCZ Vertex 4 256GB. I would like some suggestions on what ones are the most reliable and have the best performancefor under $300, preferably be at least 256gb.

Thanks.

I really like using Intel SSD, even though they don't always have the most performance I have not had a data corruption issue yet. Newegg has a Intel 520 240GB for $240, that would be my choice!

I would suggest a Crucial M4. They're very reliable and they keep up with the fastest drives on the market as long as you keep the firmware updated.

I was looking at the Crucial M4, it seems ok. Any suggestions on the OCZ ssd's?

Yeah I've got a 80 GB Intel SSD in my main computer and it works great.

I'd also reccomend it.

The trouble i find, is that i really like the vertex 4 drives, but i also like the samsung 830's.

It seems to be that its a choice between your preference of Sandforce or the Lindrix chip.

The sandforce has been around awhile and if i remember correctly the Vertex 3 ran on a sandforce, but there was a rough start involving lockups and bsod's which were later fixed through patching.

The Lindrix in the Vertex 4 is a little more of an unknown, although the drive performs well and I've seen alot of good reports on it, there is a big step up between the in the box firmware and the 1.5 software update.

I've been looking at an SSD for myself as well and I'm tempted by the Vertex 4, and unless i find something to change my mind it's probably going to be my choice.

However. These are both really good drives, and unless you're doing something really heavy then you wont notice the performance difference between the two.

As long as proper backup methods are maintained i dont see any real risk in either of them, but i will point out the samsung i belive has a 3 year warranty while the Vertex 4 maintains a 5 year warranty.
