Title says it all. Anyway, some of my favorites are KOF 2003, MK3, and.. well that is all I can think of. I did enjoy Battle Arena Toshinden, but the sounds are unbearable. Please share your recommendations and opinions below. Thanks!
STAR GLADIATOR (ps1)
I played XMen vs Street Fighter with my friends a ton in an old arcade near us, once we stayed for a whole day playing it, once we got the PSX version at least
Street Fighter II (the whole series, really) is the classic tournament fighter game. Other good options:
- Art of Fighting (by SNK and was on Neo Geo and Arcade).
- Samuri Showdown was ok. Also by SNK and on Neo Geo.
Though the original wasn't exactly a tournament style game, I used to love me some Virtua Fighter at the arcade when I was a little kid. It was the first time I'd ever played a 3D type fighter. Matter of fact, I want to say that it actually was the first 3D fighting game. Either way, it was awesome. That and KB Toys was what I looked forward to when my mom would take me to the mall.
KoF '98 comes to mind.
Anything SF has probably been played in tournaments.
Marvel vs Capcom, Soul Calibur, virtua fighter, and Guilty Gear I can remember playing in "tourneys" a long time ago.
I can list tons of obscure, fun fighters, but none that were ever really played competitively really.
In this order:
- Samurai Showdown 4
- Last Blade 2
- Last Blade
- Mortal Kombat 2
- Street Fighter Alpha 3
- Garou: Mark of the Wolves
- SVC Chaos
- WeaponLord (SNES)
On my list to play: Blaze Blue, Persona 4 Arena, The King of Fighters XIII, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
