Best Motherboard For Overclocking Pentium g3258

So far i have bought asus r9 270 and 8gb of ddr3 1333mhz ram.

At first i wanted to get fx 6300 but because the pentium is cheaper and almost as powerful i decided to get it.
So far i heard that i need a z97 mobo but those cost more than the cpu it self.

I would like to spend about $100 on mobo but i can spend more than that

It has to have 4 slots for memory and support 1.65V.

I also have asus hd 7870 that i would like to crossfire with 270 so it must support crossfire, i don't really care about SLI

i would say this is a nice board.

Asrock Z97M-OC Formula. it looks good and it has an 8 powerphase design + digi vrm.

Alternatively you *can* get An asus H97 motherboard , they support ocing of the chips , but I don't know how well , or even if the power delivery is that good .

Get a Z97 is you have the cash , if you only end up with 60$ then get a lower end motherboard.

I know some of the cheaper boards like the Asus H97 are suppose to be getting bios updates to support overclocking. I don't know if those updates are out yet and how well they work. A H97 board will not overclocked the G3258 as far as a Z97 board most likely, due to weeker power phasing. To get the most out or your G3258 a budget Z97 board like Mustery Angel suggested above will serve you better. If you absolutely cannot spend that much on a board keep an eye on the Asus H97 an other competing boards to see if the updates are out and working. But keep in mind you won't be able to overclock these boards as much.

I also wouldn't rely on the stock cooler unless you only want to overclocked it a little maybe 100-200mhz anything bond that I highly recommend an aftermarket cooler like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. This cooler is very capable and is usually had for only $35-$40.
