Hey everybody, I'm looking for a case that would be good for travelling with (just to a friends house or something, nothing overseas or through shipping) that supports mini-itx motherboards. I'd like to put an Intel Pentium G3258 and overclock it as much as possible, so a large air cooler or AIO water cooler is a necessity. For graphics I want to put a 750ti or higher card in. The case should be fairly scratch resistant/rugged as I'd be travelling with it and with a window if possible (or easily ready to mod a window on). I was looking at the EVGA Hadron Air because it's so small and fits everything I want but it doesn't seem very rugged. The Lian Li PC-TU1 also looks like a contender but doesn't support big CPU coolers. I'd also like it to be as small as possible
You really are better off with that Lian-Li case. however in terms of which GPU to use. the best performer in that form-factor right now is the R9-285 ITX from Sapphire. it's better than the 750ti and the GTX 760. also you really don't need a massive cooler.. I've personally have gotten away with using a Noctua L9i as my CPU Cooler and EVEN Overclocked my 4670k at the time to 4.2ghz. and the temps were pretty good. if you want a better Low Profile CPU Cooler this is what i'd recommend,
I would like to keep everything as quiet as possible, so I was thinking the Asus 750ti Strix. As for overclocking Linus mentions in this video that the G3258 @ 4.7GHz is comparable (in games) to an i7-4790K. What I'm wondering is if the G3258 is going to be comparable in desktop mode. Nothing CPU intensive, just web browsing and possibly media. Like will my programs open just as fast n such?
you might as well just get an aluminum briefcase and cut some holes in it. the Pentium has really good singel thread performance so you won't notice a difference most of the time.but it doesn't have avx instructions so it may have trouble in a few years when h.265(aka HEVC)@4K becomes popular.
as for cooling the ZALMAN CNPS8900 should be able to do what you need.
