I have set up a NAS running debian, and my upload speed is decent enough to stream my media outside the local network. Therefore I am trying to get it all set up so that I can stream video and music onto my android phone. Currently, I have experimented with FTP, and whilst it works it is clear that FTP isn't really ideal for streaming video files
I have also managed to get DLNA/UPNP working with minidlna, but whilst there are plenty of apps available for local streaming, I can't seem to find one that is capable of streaming over the internet, even though it should in theory work.
My questions to you are; do you know of any apps that will get me up and running with this, or are there any other protocols for me to try?
