Best high end, Low power consumption/efficent card?

so i'm thinking of getting a new card around black friday/cyber monday.

and for this next upgrade i'v decided to try abit more of a Power efficient parts, and if possible quiet.

A corsair CX600M 80+ bronze PSU is on the way, along with some Low wattage and Nocuta NF-F12's

I got a budget of about upper $250, with a preference for Nvidia cards, and was looking for 600 and 700 series cards.

Currently have a Galaxy 460 GTX 1gb.

so any of you have a recommendation for me?

If you're looking for power efficiency and quietness, you are probably that little bit better off with Nvidia, anyway.

The GTX 760 is within your budget. However, you should be mindful that this isn't the best price to performance card. The 7950 is a similar price, and competes with the 770 after OC.

There's new revisions of cards coming out in November, and there's a fair amount of competition between AMD and Nvidia right now. We will see cards drop in price. You would be very lucky to see a 770 drop to $250, though. Currently, the 770 is $320+

Again, you can pick up a 7970 or 280x for less. Just wait for the price drops in these coming weeks.

And choose a vendor that stocks the Nvidia Holiday Bundle. AC Black Flag, Splinter Cell, and Batman Origins

how do the 770's compare to the 760's on Power use on idle or under load?

Take it with a grain of salt, this is just an indication. These power loads are under a synthetic stress, and games will never cause your GPUs to draw this much power.

I estimate that the 770 will draw 200W at stock, and 250W with some OC. A little less for the 760.

Both cards will be about 60W on idle.

oh, very nice detailed response, thank you!

think i'll wait for a 770 to drop near 270~

though there is a 760 SC ACX on here for sale for 165, have to think about it.
