I'll probably be wearing them for a good few hours a day as I use headset over speakers, so it needs to be comfy.
All I need really is a good mic, good sound and comfy, looks, meh, it's a plus but not essential.
Currently I'm looking at the following ones:
ASUS Vulcan ANC, a friend who has one highly recommends them, but still, there could be better ones.
Cooler Master CM Storm Sirus, these just seem to be good, they look comfy and from what my novice sound knowledge could interpret they looked decent
I also want a sound card to accompany them, most people have said any of the ASUS Xonar range is good, so that's what I'm looking at, mainly the ASUS Xonar DS, if anyone uses this sound card do they think it's any good and whether it would go well with any of these headsets ?
Hope someone can help, if there are any suggestions, go for it, I'm willing to spend up to £200 although that would be a bit scetchy, so try to recommend ones priced similar.
I have the Vulcan headset. Generally when it comes to headsets they are nearly all identical. None have a major advantage when it comes to drivers but more what you are looking for. Open headsets get better bass, closed get way better sound canceling. As for the sound card, any xonar works just make sure it has a headphone amp if you plan on using it for headphones.
Please dont get a gaming branded headset, You' ll get SO much more audio quality if you just buy this: the best and the most brilliant headset you can get for the money is a Audio Technica ATH-M50 in combination with an Antlion modmic, and if you still have some money to spare get a Behringer UAC 202 (external soundcard, usable for way more applications than just headphones and mics), it greatly increases the quality
Hm, I did look into the Audio Technica ATH-M50, though it had something about it that I didn't like don't recall exactly, but I'll reconcider... As far as sound card, I heard that internal ones are better and generally give a better price to perfromance ratio.
Maybe I should have mentioned this, but my budget is around £180 ($210?) so I will concider the expensive heasets (but not Astro, too expensive and not the best for PC gaming, better for mouth breathers apparantly)
Internal sound doesnt really give more price/performance, and if you get an external one you can add more stuff later, like speakers and an amp. Also, the m50's. I am using them right now and there isnt a single thing i can find about it i dont like, the sound is excellent, theyre VERY comfy and the build quality is great. Also, i'll be uploading a headset guide later today so you could perhaps take a look there
If you go for Tiamat 7.1, I think the top card for that particular headset is the Creative X-fi Titanium or the Pro version. Even Razor list that as their No1 card for the headset. Other wise I don't know.
Think I'll pass on the razer... turns out the 4 reviews I read were all given free by Razer. Got some honest one off Youtube and they highlighted the faults, aswell as demo'd the mic (hurt my ears)
