I recently purchased a Saphire 7970 Dual X, and was hoping to overclock it, but am wondering what program to use to do so. I've heard of alot of people using MSI Afterburner, and also have seen some screenshots of Saphire TriXX. Was wondering what your prefered overclocking program is? Thanks for any responses in advanced.
I've been using HIS iTurbo but I used MSI Afterburner before i changed cards.
I, too, just got the vapor-x version. I tried using trixx and it's just fine. I use MSI Afterburner only because I can get info on my g15's display (yes, old, but great, keyboard).
Pretty much look at both and see what you like. Trixx merely looks nicer in my opinion, and I think it's simpler to use.
I haven;t usede anything else but, I got a nice stable OC with msi after burner and ati tray tools
For AMD GPUs I use MSI Afterburner and for nvidia GPUs with GPU Boost 2.0 I use EVGA Precision X. For my 7950 I achieved great overclocks with Afterburner so go my friend and burn some energy!
The old atitool and rivatuner.
MSI Afterburner all the way.
EVGA Precision X is pretty good, as well.
The latest MSI Afterburner 3.0 Beta v10. Much better than the normal install of MSI Afterburner and if you don't like the green and grey skin you can always download other skins from the internet. I was able to disable power play and run my own custom 2D and 3D clocks with this specific version of Afterburner to enhance overclock stability.
My HD 7870 Idles on 2D clock with 500 MHz GPU core 2400 MHz GDDR5, power limit 80%, VRM 0.793v. GPU idles at 35*C and VRM at 41*C. I was able to achieve a 3D clock rate of 1200 MHz GPU core 5500 MHz GDDR5, power limit 120%, VRM 1.269v. 100% stable, GPU temp never gets above 65*C when playing at 60 FPS and VRM temps never exceed 75*C.
evga percision for nvidia and sapphires trixx for amd
