Best GPU for $200-$300 (AUS)

I'm going to build my first PC and I need some help on choosing a graphics card for a mid priced computer.

i would go with a geforce 560ti http://www.mwave.com.au/product/sku-aa77372-asus_geforce_gtx_560_ti_directcu_ii_overclocked

the gtx 660 could be another nice choice

for 315 u can get a gtx 660ti http://pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193_876&products_id=21274

He's talking about cards that are in the $200-$300 range, not $200 and below.  I'd say the 7870 and the 7950.

the 560ti is a $250 graphics card, plus i posted when the max was 250 before he changed it to 300

You should be able to get a 7950 for ~300. MSY had a Powercolour 7950 for $285 (!) but it was out of stock. Most are around 300+.

Get a 660 or a 7870/7950.

I have a Powercolour 7870 and I am very happy with it, it runs all my games (Starcraft, Skyrim to name a few) on ultra @ 1080p and a 7950 would be all that and more. A 660, however, is also very fast.

I'd choose a depending on what games/programs you play and use most of. Like if you play a lot of Battlefield 3 (or any exclusive nvida supported game) and use adobe programs, get the 660. If you are doing gaming (but not exclusively nvida supported games), bitcoin mining or 3d programs, such as blender,  go for an AMD card.

For the 660: ASUS GeForce GTX 660 DirectCU II 2GB @ ($289 from PcCaseGear)

For the 7870: Sapphire Radeon HD7870 2GB GHZ Edition OC @ ($269 from PcCaseGear)

For the 7950: VTX3D Radeon HD7950 X-Edition Boost 3GB @ ($299 from PcCaseGear)

Hmm, well those are usually the more expensive ones.

And I didn't know that he edited it.

Sapphire Radeon 7870 runs hotter than the Asus Direct CU II TOP and you can get the Asus for cheaper. They may have been discontinued but www.NCIX.com should have some left.

7950 is the obvious option here coming with free games and a newer AMD architecture.

actually, I agree on this one. I suggest either the sapphire or HIS iceq

But my ass still hurts from those memes.

The 560ti is a 150$ card now...
