Best GPU ever!

Hi guys, so I have around Tree Fiddy to  Fo' hunnid dolla's for a GPU. My original choice was the 7950 and it's a great GPU but I want to get the absolute best performance for the money. Please recommend some things?. I have some GPU's in mind like the GTX 570's SLI, GTX 660's SLI, 7950, 7870 CFX, 7970. What's the best GPU or GPU's out there for the money? I'll be playing a ton of FPS games if that matters.

Geforce GTX670 or Radeon HD7970

Pick whichever brand gives you the bigger boner as you can't really go wrong with either.

The EVGA gtx 670 4GB is $419.95 - I would save up another week or so and get that. The 7970 is cheaper, but PhysX is fantastic. The 670 is easily overclocked to match a 680. 4GB of VRAM will keep you running modern games on ultra settings for years to come, and support multiple monitors. Enjoy the 670 - it is fantastic for gaming, and if you ever decide to get into editing, it has the CUDA to support that.

PhysX is only supported by a tiny number of games

And you can run PhysX with a AMD card by having your CPU deal with it.

So not sure if its worth the extra cost, and the expense of less FPS against the 7970 for a AMD unless you have a shit CPU and really want to play Batman: Arkham Asylum, Borderlands 2 or will be using the CUDA cores or Adobe CS application?

I would get the 7970.

I thought there were a lot more games than that.

I would also get the 7970. But you can't go wrong with a 670/680 either.

in all fairness that list is incomplete, but covers all the big name games......and few first person shooter the OP seems to play.

And some game only utilise tiny elements like rag-doll effects.

Don't get me wrong I have a NVIDIA card too, but bang for buck gaming Im in the AMD camp.

I'm unbiased really.

i5-3570k. No editing involved. Just want gaming performance. Might get the 7950 cause it comes with 3 games and is $100 cheaper than the 7970 and can be OC'ed to match the 7970.

Getting a 7950 and OCing it

Gonna go with a 7950 and gonna OC it.
