Best CPU cooler for a AMD Phenom II 965

Ive recently bought a new pc and have been using it with my tv till my new monitor arrives. The issue is the stock cpu cooler is so loud it trakes away from game sounds. S what is the best relativle cheap (less than £40) cpu cooler?

Its a AMD Phenom II 965 BE with an AM3 socket.

Any help is useful!

You'll struggle to find many of the recommended CPU coolers here in the UK. I know you can pick up the Phanteks 12DX for less than £40, but it will cost more with delivery. The 12DX is the cooler I often recommend, especially for people in the UK, it is easy to find in this country.

Honestly, for a Phenom, I would just grab the cheap CM Hyper Evo. It's cheaper than the Phanteks, does a good enough job. If you want the Phanteks, it might be worth it to you.

Fair enough, im not looking to do any overclock, i just need one that isnt so loud, im sitting a couple meters away and i can easily hear it, so its be terrible when ive got it on me desk.

If you're not overclocking, no need to spend £40.

I am on an interim period from university. There's no work in my area, all the work is kinda seasonal. Moved out of London and back into the wilderness my mum lives in, sort of surprised I have internet...

I'm out of university for a year! Not going back until next September. I have to go through the application process again. Blaaahhh

I'm just thinking of switching my economics degree for quantity surveying. QS is a bit more career-centric. I have a little experience of being placed on a team of surveyors. Good job, good money.

Bit embarrassed about my choices. I got accepted everywhere that I applied, I just choose universities based on location and all the fun I can have. Sooooo, I'll probably head back to London again. They have my most favourite metal bar, and I found a university that is walking distance from it.

just get a cooler master 212 evo you cant push a 965 past 4ghz anyway it will be perfect for that cpu and its only £25
