Nice work mate, I think Crossfire and SLI in the low end market is a great way for budget gamers to get good performance over time. Start with one budget card and then buy another when you can.
However when approaching a fresh build or upgrade I'd always suggest getting one strong card with good overclocking potential as the better option even if the SLI or Crossfire benchmarks are slightly higher using 2 budget cards combined.
At least you know you'll always get good performance. Because you always run the risk of running a game not optimised for scaling and you end up running the game off 1 poor GPU.
