Best budget cpu for video editing and gaming?

Hey, I am a filmmaker and a gamer, love to play games.. But what kind of CPU would be the best for both worlds ? Gaming and editing ? I would like to go in the 100$ range...

Thanks ?

and vs intel

$100...?  Not gonna get a high end cpu for editing or gaming for that price.

What video editing software are you going to be using? Some of them have gpu rendering so you could render on the gpu and get it done faster than with the cpu.

Is there a microcenter near you? if so the amd 6300 is $100 there, and its decent for editing and gaming with its 6 cores it'll get the job done okay for both.  the 8320 is $120 there, which really is good for that price. Its pretty good at gaming and having 8 cores it will render pretty dang fast.  Or if you wanna be super cheapo the 4130 from amd is on sale for $40 there, not exactly amazing at ether but for the price its hard to beat.

If no microcenter the 6300 is $120 at newegg and its about the best you're gonna do for just over $100.

Around that price I'd recommend the FX-6300 or the FX-8320/50 if you can find one on sale.

The 6300 is arguably the best budget CPU. It is very good for gaming and the multicluster architecture, while down in terms of single core performance, does a very good job in most productivity applications including video editing and rendering.

The 8320/50 will be even faster still. An OCed 8350 will handedly beat an Intel 3820/4820 in most applications. Especially H.264 encoding.

My recommendation would be get the 6300, or the 8320 if you can swing it, a good motherboard and good cooling. Then OC the shit out of it. Most FX chips over clock very well. I've gotten 5.1 GHz out of my 8350 no problem.

That being said, if you are a filmmaker and will be doing a lot of video processing, editing and rendering you should really have something more powerful and well frankly more expensive. A 4930k from Intel.

FX8320

Big thanks to you all, got my answer :) This community is the best !

So i'm taking the 8320, but what would be a decent motherboard for this cpu, also not very expensive.

Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0

Asus M5A99X Evo R2.0

Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P

Thanks :)
