Best Air Coolers for AMD 8350

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Air Coolers for the 8350? I see most everyone goes with a self contained water cooler. I still haven't gotten comfortable with using water coolers in my systems and I also love the simplicity of air coolers.

Does anyone have any recomandations for an easy to install and reliable air cooler for the the 8350?

I am using the Asus Sabertooth Mobo and probably Vengeance RAM. It would be nice if the aircooler doesnt block the RAM slots too.

Thanks

I would say the Noctua NH-D14, I dont own one myself, but i've heard that it is very efficient and allows for some decent overclocking.

Note: It's particularly nice if you can get over the sub-par aesthetics.

Oh boy, it sure is ugly. But if it cools and allows for some miner overclocking. Good call cheetoh. If I get it I will let you know how it works.

Thanks bud!

Agreeing with Cheetoh on this, I have always been a fan of the Noctua NH-D14, The Phanteks PH-TC14PE, Though idk if it's just me but this looks kinda hideous to me, I don't know why but the coloured ones just look a little off. That and the Noctua comes with some badass noctua fans.

But yeah, those are the best two choices for air cooling.

Noctua NH-D14 have it love it able to oc a phenom II x6 1100t to 4.3 ghz and keep it under 59 C in prime 95. major warning it is massive including pics of what it looks like in my case.

Oh man that thing is enourmous. Have you guys heard anything about this cooler?

It is very massive but if its the best i might go that route. Thanks for all the photos. You guys are so helpful.

logan did a review on it  http://teksyndicate.com/reviews/2013/02/04/xigmatek-dark-knight-night-hawk-edition-review

sadly i dont own one for my self so i cant comment on how well it competes against a Noctua NH-D14 but for the price i could reccomend it based on logan review of it.

I would go for the Phanteks PH-TC14PE. You can get them in a variety of colors, and I think they look a lot better than the NH-D14, not to mention that they perform a few degrees better than the NH-D14.

I like the Phanteks a lot too. Has anybody had any luck with Zalman coolers? Their website is very thorough and their fans look very well made too.

Xigmatek Aegir seems pretty nice at the price. This review has some nice comparable results to give context. I actually have one but being too busy for the next couple of weeks I can't get around to installing it and seeing what it does.
No doubt it will be a huge boost over stock in any case. No pun intended (thinking about it Logan may have actually said that too in one of the reviews on coolers lol).

It is large so there could be issues with the ram slots. Just have to pay attention to the dimensions out there.

Just the throw some more options in there (the Noctua and Phanteks are already amazing)

You could also get either the Thermalright SilverArrow SB-E or the Silverstone Heligon HE-01, they are on par with the coolers already mentioned.

I wouldn't recommend a Zalman cooler. Zalman hasn't really been a "go to" heat sink company since LGA 775.

Based on the link from looming-hawk I did go with teh Xigmatek. I thank you all for your awesome recomendations. You have been so helpful. I just didnt want something enormous. If this doesn't work out I will ditch it and go with the Noctua or the Phantek for sure.

Oh and by all all means keep making Aircooling suggestions for the Processor and mobo combo. I just searched google and it is one of the first thigns taht pops up so this may be very helpful for people doing the same build.

I will also be doing a build for  friend in the near future and I may use another one of your suggestions for comparison.

Thanks so much again. This forum has some awesome members. You guys rule!!!!

Well, if you don't want something too massive, then I would suggest grabbing either the Cooler Master TPC 812 or the NZXT Havik 140.

man i use a hyper 212+ with two fans on it.. itsn ot bad i have my 965 at 4ghz and it stays under 46

-_-

AMD CPUs, more notably the Phenom II's, also run cooler than other CPUs. The Hyper 212+ is a decent cooler, but it's pretty much garbage if you want to do some serious overclocking on modern day processors.

I'm sure the old Zalman coolers worked great with Intel Core 2 Duos as well, but you don't see me recommending them for current AMD 8-core processors.

Well I decided to wait and see what else you guys recommend. I ordered everything but the cooler. I am using the Sabertooth mobo for sure and I am jsut really worried about not being able to get to my RAM. Also I want a simple installation.

Well the larger coolers should be simple enough to install, and how often are you going to be upgrading your ram anyway?

Like I said though, your best bet is probably going to be either the TPC 812 or Havik 140 if you don't want something too large.

So Vortex are you in agreement that tif I do decide to go larger with this cooler that noctua and phantek is probably the way to go. I will check out the cooler master and nzxt also. To be honest if I was going just for looks I do like the this one best
