My parents are looking into getting a new TV and I am trying to help them pick out the best one. Right now they are looking at this one and it seems to be pretty good
However I know that they won't use any of the "smart" features that it offers. Are there any other TV's in the $800 range that would be better. I don't care about bells and whistles I only care that it is around $800, 55 inches, and has the best picture possible.
I know that this might not be the best place to ask this as so many people don't have satellite or cable, but here's to hoping that someone out there can help:D.
Where are you located? My mom recently bought a Samsung 60" LED tv from Costco for like $600.. I would just shop around on black friday next week and see whats on sale. Most tvs nowadays from the bigger manufacturers are all decent, Samsung, LG, Sony, etc.
Indiana, I wish we had a costco near here...they are the best. Anyways ya I didn't see much of a difference between the different brands so that't why I came here.
I'd say take a look at LG, they use IPS panels in most or all of their tv's. or anything without an OLED panel, they just aren't there yet in terms of picture quality.
samsung is nice quality but don't spend over $600 on a 55", most people would tell you to spend the whole 800 bucks and get the best picture out of it, but i've been using a 55" Westinghouse for over 3 years now and the quality is decent with the proper lighting in the room, no issues with it, but i spent 800 back then, now it's only $450 (ish) , bought it from Best Buy. *note this is the newer model of what i own, parts and build quality may differ* http://www.bestbuy.com/site/westinghouse-55-class-54-5-8-diag--led-1080p-120hz-hdtv-black/8268011.p?id=1219321650558&skuId=8268011
