I've recently been building a HTPC, but I came to the conclusion that a home server would be more suited for my usecase.
The problem that I have, is that I used an A6 in the HTPC. However, when I try to transcode, I get weird stuttering. The bottleneck, in my opinion, is the GPU. Now I was wondering which CPU would be a better fit for the job. I want to transcode to 1080p at a decent bitrate.
I'm running Linux, so no need to calculate Windows in the resource allocation. However, I do want to switch over because my TV-tuner does not support Windows, and finding the right Linux driver is a PITA.
