Whatever happened to beowulf clusters. I remember it getting steam back in the early 2000s. I was browsing through computer parts porn and seen someone linked up a bunch of Raspberry Pi's together.
They still use that technology in many of the supercomputer installations where it is really a cluster of servers but I think the vendors that do that have customized the code to their own needs.
It didn't have much application outside of some very narrow use cases, so there wasn't a lot of interest.
It is kind of like the Ceph storage system that morphed into RedHat's GlusterFS. The technology got integrated into something else and now you don't really hear about the source technology.

The movie was a flop, the only thing the sold it really was naked CGI of Angelina Jolie.
