So right now I am building a new gaming rig using a FX 8350, sabertooth R2.0 16gb Cruical ram 1333 with a Corsair h100i cool with a Corsair 1050HX power supply, yes I know some of the parts are low but am also trying to recycle some of the old parts to save some cash.
Now here is my problem I am looking at either doing 650ti Boost in sli a 660ti possible in sli or a 760 in sli in a few months time but I just can't seem to find a decent compasions between them sli and non sli and the bang for buck ratio since the 650s are pretty cheap right now and the 660 and the 760 are pretty much the same in price and then I start to smell copper and my head hurts.
Sell the ridiculas sized psu and 8 gbs of that ram off then buy a HD7950/HD7970 no point buying 2 cards to sli when its more expencive to buy 2 cards...then you have to put up with games not likeing sli/CF driver problems gpu scaleing problems and heat.
woops, horribly misread, you're still composing. I will frigging vouch for the 8350/sabertooth 2.0 combo. and maybe the watercooling is open for debate, but I got a h80i And I'm not quite displeased.
I'm at 4.76Ghz, about 52° CPU temp in VERY hot days. the h100 should get you to 5ghz with that board.
As for gpu's, I would probably recommend an AMD aswell but I saw you liked nvidia more :)
Did some checking and the 7950 doesn't seem to perform as well as the 760 and other benchmarks is the other way around so whos right and who being a fanboy and the 7970 is just out of my price range the budget on card is $260 max right now partial why I was looking a sli since i could get one now a month or 4 later the other.
I am just getting more confused by adding ati in the mix now....
yeah planning on using the asus software that comes with the mobo to overclock the bad boy as for the psu i like the 6 year warranty i got left on it plus i got it for $70 at the time the ram I get around to upgrading that when the ram prices drop a bit as they seem to be double the price from last year atm.
The problem radeon cards I just can't bring myself use them over 15 years i had too many bad experinces using them am sure they probably a fine card now that amd is at the wheel but more familar with the nvidia tech as for the water cooling I was looking for air cooling but from what i understand liquid is probably the better bet on overclocking though i don't want to deal with the do it your self kits that need constant maintance etc so if you know a good cooler that wont break the bank $100 budget on the cooler am open to the suggestions.
But the bottom line here is I need find or see some benchmarks showing all cards but I just don't get the difference between nvidia cuda cores and and stream processes.
Ok so the question is why amd over nvidia as from what i can find the 760 is slightly better seem alot of people recommending amd right now I admit i haven't paid much attention to the ati since they screwed me over with the 9800 or something like that it was years ago anyway is a techincal reason, stream processors better than cuda cores or is it just a personal preference?
well i personaly recommend the Msi 7950 twin frozer, this card is realy sollid, and good overclockable. AMD realy droped the prices of theire cards, because they probably gonne release theire new HD9XXX series cards till end of September.
a Msi Radeon 7950 TF cost $259 at the moment on new egg, for that price you cant arguing. a Radeon 7950 is still a better performing card over a GTX760. what is basicly only a rebranded GTX660Ti with faster memory bandwith, a GTX760 i still a good value card for the money for people wo realy like Nvidia cards more because of the physX. a GTX760 performs slightly better in some games then a GTX670 as far as ive seem benchmarks, but a GTX670 cost allot more money so yeah if you realy an Nvidia fan, then a GTX760 is a good choice. but a Radeon 7950 will perform better in most games.especialy at 1440p.
On the other hand going for a GTX760 sli setup, is also not a bad choice, but i personaly not a big fan of dual gpu setups.
Which is better is not an easy question as it doesnt just come to cudacores or stream processors. basicly if your just looking for best value for your money, AMD, If you want best performance or run professional software that rely of cudacores, Then Nvidia. By the look of your system, You need best value for your money so 7950 or a 7970 if you can afford it, Is your best bet. However If you are willing to spend that little bit extra, A single 760 and sli later on is very very solid. Its all down to preference and how much you want to spend.
Yeah after doing a bit more digging I will probably try out the 7950 partly because people say it got alot more head for overclocking and another interesting fact that the next gen console games will be based on the amd architecture how are the drivers these days for ati they used to be really really crap back when i started out and I looked that that card the only thing that been putting me off is it seems to have alot of bad reviews lately on newegg.
