MIT is hosting a coding compeition. I was wondering if anybody else is doing this?
Seems interesting. How does one get started?
myself and my partner are doing this. Dont expect to win... but should be very fun
They will release the software to do it on the 4th. I beleive they will be releasing some lectures from MIT.
i might do it. probably alone but meh
edit
dont try to recruit me for a team. i have limited time to put towards something like this and i dont want to waste anyone's time
I am making a team for my school, but if anyone at TekSyndicate wishes to collaborate unofficially I would be happy to converse with whomever it is.
I've always wanted to participate in one of these...
Also.... WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE IN JAVA.... NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
you can code in scala as well. what is wrong with java? its not the worlds greatest language but it gets the job done and is easy to learn.
Eh... it's a debate for another time... but in a nutshell... it's obsolete and it's level of system abstraction is not needed anymore; somehow its still promoted in schools though and that's the only reason it's alive and well.
Dont worry, after this semester at my college we leave Java and go into C++.
NICE!!!
which college?
Iowa State, they use Java as a good beginner language because it is easy to understand data structure.
After that we take an advanced programming class that is supposed to represent what it is like in the industry. We start with C then go to C++, then a little SQL at the end I think.
Java honestly isn't bad. It's popular because it's easy to use. And until minecraft is ported away from it, as well as android ditching it, it will remain very popular.
