Bass from headphones AND subwoofer at same time?

OK I have a question and I can’t find anything on google, mainly due to bad wording I think. I just hope this is the right place for this question.
Ok so here is what I want to do. I have a pair of Superlux HD668Bs and I also have some random Dell 2.1 speakers. I want to use the headphones 100% of the time, but also have the subwoofer do the bass IN ADDITION to the headphone bass.
Is this possible to do without extra hardware? If not, how expensive would it be to get this going?

If it matters the headphones are plugged into front audio, and 2.1 system is plugged into the motherboard of my PC both with a standard 3.5

You can use a 3.5mm splitter cable, male 3.5mm jack on one end to two female 3.5mm jacks on the other and hook them up together?

Something like this - link

I assume this is to maybe feel some vibration through the floor or something, doubt you would hear the subwoofer with the headphones on to be honest but a splitter is cheap enough to give it a go.

EDIT: Splitter cable would go into your onboard audio or sound card jack and the headphone and sub get plugged into the two female jacks.

You might be able to use a spliter to split the signal from one line into two lines. I'm not sure how the Dell speakers are setup.

What speaker system do you have?

If you're after that "real life punch in the chest" bass while still using headphones. You would need to turn your sub up pretty loud to still get that while having your ears covered by headphones.

I would investigate the "butt kicker". Certain kinds are actually quite musical and can be bolted to your desk chair.

I thought about that, but then wouldn't the audio come out of the speakers too?

They are all connected to one another. No way to unplug the subwoofer from the speakers.

And yeah it's to feel the bass from the floor. Well on my feet since I have my feet on the subwoofer.

I would have to go home and look up the model on the back of the system.

My feet rest on the subwoofer, and I miss the bass in my feet when using headphones.

EDIT: Also amazing how awesome TekSyndicate forums are. I ask a question and within minutes I have 3 people helping!!

DEFINITELY look into a butt kicker then. It will change your life.

They are most commonly used for bass players and drummers.

This is basically the kit you're looking for but I recommend the full sized standing pad like in the picture above. http://www.amazon.com/Buttkicker-BK-LFEKit-Frequency-Amplifier-Theater/dp/B0028Y4UUM

I see, normally the subwoofer is the one which has the amp and therefore the satellites connect to.

If you use headphones 100% of the time though, you could open up the speaker casing and unsolder the speaker or cut the wire.

If I did have a subwoofer that could be detached from the satellites do you think a simple slitter would do it?

I will have to look into this more when I am home from work.

Yup a simple slitter would do the trick, only downside is it will only output the volume relating to the headphones, ie. if you have the headphones at a low volume you won't feel much or anything from the sub.

The buttkicker looks awesome!

Butt Kickers ARE awesome.

I used to set them up for a bass player at a gig. I tried standing on it a few times while he played. It was unbelievable. You couldn't hear anything with your ears, but you could FEEL the notes in your whole body. It was very musical despite being LFE.

While standing on it, I turned it all the way up with a 2000w amp. My eyeballs were shaking so much I couldn't read the sheet music in front of me. Yet, somehow I could still very clearly "hear" the bass note through my whole body.

I used to run a cheapo stereo setup that came with two speakers and a sub without the speakers. I just plugged them into a splitter, then used the other end of the splitter for independent speaker control from another receiver, so I had two independent volume controls for bass vs everything else. I never tried it with headphones, but it probably would've worked pretty well.

I don't think I understand.

Let the diagram skills commence....

Each receiver had separate volume controls, so I could independently control the speakers and the subwoofer. Instead of having the "Separate Receiver" you could have headphones.

PS pardon the spelling mistakes in the diagram, too lazy to fix.

I think I thought of an idea. As @raz0rblade points out even if I get my subwoofer linked to my headphones it will be matching the headphones. Which are quite low in volume according to windows. I run them from 10 to 20 out of 100 from windows volume.

My idea is. Get a new subwoofer, without speakers have them plugged into an AMP which is into a splitter along with my headphones. I can now adjust the "volume" to the subwoofer while keeping my headphones on the quite range.

Think this will work?

EDIT: Basically exactly what @I_fell drew for me

I understand now, thank you!

That would probably do it. Do you have a volume control knob on your dell speakers?

Yeah I do

If you had a way to disconnect the wires to the speakers, but leave the subwoofer in tact, then that could be your volume control for the subwoofer. Not sure how well it would work if your system volume is at low levels for the headphones, but it would give you some control at least.
