Hey all, I am just wondering if anyone else out there plays the Bass Guitar and if you do; what Amp and Cab do you use and or recommend?
I recently gave my bass a few upgrades and would now like to give the rest of my equipment some upgrades. I mostly play metal type music. I will not be purchasing the amp or cab any time soon, but I will eventually get around to it.
Insert opinions/recommendations below.
I used to play, and always looked for Markbass, peavy or Trace elliot, it depends on your budget but personally look for Mark bass or trace elliot (they are expensive)

EDIT: I didn't think cabs and amps would cost so much... I might just have to build my own.
Always loved my 1000 watt carvins in a custom made wood cabs. Peavy was always too plucky,markbass just doesnt have it, MEH Trace elliot unknown to me. Harke makes some small bass cab that sound nice for their size. Matter of taste all the way around. A tube hybrid is my preferred for large soundstage but lean on classic fender tubes amps for smaller venues. Mostly run vintage stuff, since not much impresses me with most of the newer stuff. Mostly its a search for the sound you are looking for , so try new things.
I had a late 70's Ampeg 500w that was good for blues and hard rock 4 foot x 4 four foot x 2 foot huge muddy tones ... weight 1/2 a ton lol
I'm using a Ampeg SVT 3 head (500watt) with an Ampeg PR-410 HLF cab. I don't think the cab is in production anymore. It's solid with very low bass. Cons it is big and weighs alot. I got the head for $799 used and the cab was 1k so not cheap either.
