Cisco DPC3010 DOCSIS 3.0 8x4 Cable Modem

Getting weird fluctuations of data down and upload speeds are all over the place, mostly bad; bottoming out at 1-5 mbs and topping at 30mbs.

Best dowload was only like 6mbs, and keep in mind this is not consistent. Some of the time I have trouble loading web pages.

Double check that everything is in full duplex mode.

So I presume we are dealing with Wireless here. (Due to the listing of devices)

But anyway:

  1. Do the fluctuations still occur if you directly connect to the modem?
  2. Do the fluctuations still occur when plugged directly into the router?
  3. How far away is the computer from the gateway/access point and how is it connected?
  4. If Wireless, what sort of building are you in? Normal plaster board walls, heavy piping in them, concrete walls?
  5. If Wireless, do the fluctuations lessen if you move closer to the access point?
  6. If Wireless, Have you got an alternative adapter to test with?
  7. If Wireless, Is the wireless channel set to an open one that isn't being overlapped by something near the access point or receiving machine?

Try cycling the broadcast channel (1,6,11).

  1. I'm sharing a connection with room mates. Not an option for me long-term.
  2. 6.6mbs was the highest plugged directly into the Router. Speedtest.net is giving me like a 15-30mbs rating on download.
  3. 25 to 30 ft max. through wifi. 1-5mbs.
  4. Normal drywall residential type.
  5. Not an option.
  6. Only an old cisco E3000. It performed even worse.
  7. Not sure. It's my room mates Belkin AC750. It has a passcode. The incident in question was late at night. They mostly stream, so I doubt they were downloading anything or streaming at the time.

OK quick epiphany.

I just updated my LAN drivers for my mobo.

I also realized I never updated my BIO's for my mobo. Do you all think this could be a fix?
