Backups, backups, backups. (Facepalm, facepalm, facepalm.)

The prices are what they are.
ameridroid.com is also a good choice. In the end, it was created for this region.

The price at the end of the day is rather ok for something like HC2. Yes, the cheaper the better it would be but it is still a good option for both the main and backup NAS imho.

It’s a 12 year old D-link NAS, so custom embedded linux with pretty much everything useful removed. No SSH, no CLI, RAID1.

If they were more consistent with using the/a NAS for their file storage, we wouldn’t be worried about backing up individual machines at all. If we wanted to, we’d probably just use the built in Windows backup system and inexpensive external drives. The “file server” NAS would be backed up to something that could be taken off site.

They don’t currently. I don’t even think they have endpoint protections on all of their machines. And many are unpatched. And one is running XP. It’s a disaster waiting to happen.

Yup, or maybe even just a plain external drive. Currently only about 250GB of data, though if they were more consistent with central storage that’d probably be closer to 500GB. Still small enough to just dump a copy on a drive, or even have two or three that get cycled through.

Facepalms confirmed.
