Backlit, compact, quiet, standard layout, WIRED! Does it exist?

So basically I am searching for a keyboard that has all the features mentioned in the title. I thought about using an old macbook pro keyboard but it seems unlikely that could ever happen. But it gives you an idea about what I want.

  • It has to be wired and that has to be the data connection. Wireless with USB charging cable or something.. I am not looking for that.
  • It has to be tenkeyless. Most of the time I am using a K65 RGB right now and I don't want to change ergonomics too much when using the quiet keyboard.
  • I would like it to have a mostly standard layout. The apple keyboards have half hight top line of keys (esc, F1...) and half hight arrows. Otherwise they are pretty standard.
  • Backlight. No compromise.

Has anyone come across something like that?

That's a tall order, tenkeyless keyboards are hard to find, especially non mechanical ones. I assume you are against getting a mechanical keyboard, right?

Well as I wrote, I already have a K65. Mechanical is too loud.

What about sound dampening O-rings?

Nope, not enough. I have those. And before you or someone else brings it up: I am not switching my way of writing to not bottom out or something.

I am looking for a very specific thing. If that doesn't exist, then that is the way it is. But please stop suggesting completely different things. Don't take this the wrong way, I appreciate the effort but I want to keep this thread clean. ;)

Do these pass inspection, master?

Finding a plain, standard layout is hard, but these are really close.

get rubber o rings for it?
I did that

red are really quiet if they have rings

No don't suggest that, he'll get angry!

HULK SMASH!

Nice try guys....

I can't find the first one with german qwertz style layout. Only without the backlight.
The second one looks good though, I'll give it a try. Thanks.

[s]If silence is what you want these are also louder than chiclet or regular membrane.

Oneness with cup rubber. These pop.[/s]

Sorry though this was another Topre clone. The drop however has ended. You would have to find it somwhere else.

Edit: I take it back, or at least defer to wiser people of Deskthority.

Plum 84: A couple of things. I noticed a ping almost immediately after using the keyboard. When I am typing away for an extended period, I don't notice it anymore, but when pressing a few keys, I definitely can hear it. Many also have described to a scratchy sound and feeling in the Topre clones, which I did not notice initially. But next to the Realforce 86U, the scratchiness definitely is noticeable. My guess is there some friction in the slider mechanism that causes this scratchy sound.

Realforce 86U: We all know about the THOCK or whatever is your favorite onomatopoeia to describe the Topre sound. Next to the Plum 84, the Realforce 86U is slightly louder overall, but does not have the scratch sound. When the two keyboards are next to each other, the scratchiness of the Plum 84 is audible and somewhat off-putting. I cannot confirm if the Realforce is smoother, because the different weighting of the switches do not offer a direct comparison.

I didn't see that. Actually I didn't read the post, just looked at the image and thought .... 'no'. ;)

TKL, mechanical, Brown switch (Kaihl, not CherryMX), RGB, USB...

The Perixx keyboard fits the purpose for me.
It is significantly quieter than the K65 (even with o-rings).
Thanks @Ethereal for the link.

Have you gave up on the "3rd dot" of your requirements, I mean size of arrows can be a big deal. Do you think about saving your K65 and just using that Perixx in a quieter environments ?

I didn't give up anything. The Perixx fits the requirements because it has basically the same layout as the keyboard I described.

I don't know exactly what you mean by "saving my K65" but yes, I will use the quieter keyboard when the K65 is too loud. That was the point.

I thought, you wanted to get rid of K65 :)

Oh, I see, ok. No, I am keeping my keyboard. The Perixx is a tool for when I can not use the K65.
