B-52's in the Baltics

This pic is from a reuters article and the pic is from Ints Kalnins taken at ADAZI, LATVIA.
I am just curious why NATO is flying heavy nuclear bombers 100 miles from the russian border from airbases close to the former home of the Soviet Baltic Fleet.
Just seems a bit overly provocative.

She does look beautiful.

Because Latvia is a NATO country and exercises like this are quite normal?

Hardly provocative too considering NATO informs Russian intelligence every time they do this sort of thing. Also Russia has done a hell of a lot more provocative shit lately. From buzzing US ships, flying Bear bombers off the cost of the US, UK, and Canada, having subs lingering off Sweden, ohh and I almost forgot, sending troops into other countries and seizing territory.

This is from Saber Strike btw. Annual NATO exercise that has occurred every year since 2010.
