So my I recently get an 8350, and the temp readout in almost everything exept occt is very erratic. They jump all over the place. One second it will be 20c and the next 35, all while idling. Also occt seems to be giving a "stable" (not fluctuating randomly), albeit too high temp for idle. This picture is while idling. I know my cooling solution is more than adequate right now, using a h212evo with mx-4 paste without an overclock yet. So I don't know if its a sensor glitch or software.
These CPUs have really bad idle temp sensors. Put some load on it and you'll get a more accurate reading.
Ok thx, Good to know. I thought it might also be the voltage being set to auto, but it still did it.
A couple other things. I did a light overclock to 4.3 and while under load it occasionally drops off to 4.0 and sometime even in the 3.x region. Also while under load I'm not sure what temps to trust, OCCT shows around 50C and everything else shows around 40.
What motherboard do you have?
Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3
Over 40-45c you can expect real temps
