Indeed, when i think of Mercedes, i think of the W140s, such a timeless design

This is great. Donut needs to just keep on being them. Quickly has become a really good channel.

Yeah i´m kinda concidering buying a headunit with DAB+ support.
Allthough the FM wont be shut down for the upcomming years.

I´m probablly going to buy a pioneer or JVC unit,
i wished i was able to install a 2din media unit.
But in the Seat that seems to be impossible pretty much.
It is possible but will take allot of customization work on the mid console of the car.

Bought a new daily today, got rid of the money pit of a Megane i bought last year and got myself a much newer Fiat 500 Cult with the 1.4l engine and “Dualogic” semi-auto gearbox.
I’m going to wait for the sun to come out and take some pictures of it, loving it so far!

Fiat 500 those are really cool!.
Yea renaults arent particulary the most reliable cars out there.
Especially not the megane and laguna´s from 2002 till 2007.
Those are really electrical nightmares.

Mine was a 2008 with the 1.6l engine and manual box.
I spent quite a buck on it, it has a repair done on the seats on the very first day, a paint touch up on the boot lid, a new timing belt, a new belt tensioner, a new battery and new hubcaps.
A few weeks ago it started to have a pretty particular issue, it wouldn’t stay on, it would just drop unless it was under a certain temperature. I took it to a specialist and he said the car needed a pretty expensive repair on the wiring loom and central computer. Ah no, that i wouldn’t do, it was already too much money, so i decided i would sell it and get a smaller, more fun little car (i don’t need 4 seats anyway, i’m by myself) , so i got the 500!

Congrats!

Not sure how I feel about the Fiats, but I’m sure it’ll be more reliable than the Renault.

I sure hope so! The Megane was quite a money pit, glad i could exchange for a different car.
Of course i had to pay a little bit more, but i think it will be worth it in the end.

That’s typically how it works, up until a certain point. :stuck_out_tongue:

I did see an Alfa 156 Sportwagon on the same store i bought the 500, it was a little rough around the edges, probably belonged to a smoker (the ashtray had a little bit of ash).
Tempting, very tempting.

Alfa? Not if you want reliable…

You made the right decision to get rid of it.
Renaults prior to 2010 are just unreliable really.
Its because Frensch cars in general are just too complex with electrics.

Ah yeah, and i wouldn’t touch a problematic Alfa with a 10 foot pole.
And it was cheaper than the 500, that kept me very far away from it…

But if there’s one thing the older Renaults had, was a good design.
I have quite a thing for the Avantimes and the Vel Satis, such a great design, shame they aren’t the most reliable things around…

And before somebody mentions it, i know what Fiat stands for.
Fix it again, Tony

I wouldnt recommend buying a 156 anymore.

Allthough i Love Alfa Romeo´s.

But the 156 is a rust bucket pretty much.
And next to that a Alfa 156 is also pretty expensive to maintain aswell.
Very delicate and sensitive supsention that needs allot of maintance.
And if you have a petrol version with twinspark engines.
Those are really sensitive aswell, they need a new timing belt every 60.000km´s or 3 years whatever comes first.
Otherwise they will guaranteed blow appart.
Another sensitive thing with the Twinspark engines is oil usage.
You really need to check that every week.
The 1.6TS and 2.0TS are the most nutorious for it.
The 1.8TS seems to be the best of the bunge.
The later facelift 156’s 2003 and newer did get new petrol engines aswell JTS engines from GM, and those are all garbage!!!

The only real engines that are reliable in the 156’s and 147´s a like,
are the 1.9JTD and 2.4JTD diesels.
And the LOVELY Busso V6.

The only downside of the lovelly Busso V6 is Fuel economy.
And a timing belt change costs $1200,-

Sofar about the 156, just dont.

Nah, i would never.
The one i looked at had the Busso V6, problem is, i’m really not a wrench, i can do basic repairs but that’s it and there’s no mechanics around that will touch Alfas.
I think the 500 was perhaps the more sensible, it was it or a Logan, a Sandero, maybe a VW UP!, but i’m not a fan of any of those, the 500 is nicer.
And mine has the interior color matching with the exterior, quite cool!

The 500 is a pretty cool car.
Not sure which engine yours has.
But they are really fun to drive.

The Busso V6 is one of the nices V6 engines ever build.
And they are also really reliable aswell.
But at a good day they will do 1L/8km on fuell economy.
And yeah the timing belt change between 90K and 120K will burn your walled.
You could do it yourself, but you will need some special tools for it.

The model i have is the “mexican” version with the 1.4l 8 valve 88hp “Fire” engine, which it shares with various other models here in Brazil.
Good performance for the size i’d say, certainly has a better power/weight ratio than the Megane had.
Also, i should mention that my father has a Fiat Strada with the very same engine. I don’t see him around a lot, but i asked recently about the reliability of the truck and he said it was his most reliable car ever, so there’s that

Ah the good old 1.4 8V fire engine.
That is pretty reliable.
Are you sure its a 8V engine by the way?
I do know that a 1.4 8V exists, but in the Alfa Mito and Grande Punto it only has 78HP.
The 1.4 16V sits arround 90HP in the Mito.
