L1's Garage

Not an inaccurate description, but imagine it’s a 20-something with a sledge hammer listening to angry music.

Any plans to make the gauges work?

Yeah, we made a custom wiring harness. The Gauges should work when plugged into the gm ECU.

She’s pretty duffed… looks like it’s been driven through salt and never washed underneath.

Yep, that’s a good way to describe it.

The rocker panels are the main point of concern right now. There are other parts of the car that are rotten but If I can find parts at the local scrapyard replacing them won’t be an issue - the main frame looks mostly okay.

Pawed through the parts box and asked my father, all he says he has that would work with your car is a handful of turbo oil feeder banjo bolt washers and like one exhaust gasket :frowning:

I´m not really that suprised seeing that.
Because Subaru´s from that era are just know for having rust issues like that.
Its the same story with Mazda´s.

@Skelterz curious ever try to smog a vehicle with a single cat that has two?
My sonic has two cats but the second cat does not have an EO# anywhere just the GM model number. My number will probably be pulled some time this august or next.
Worst case I will just install stock exhaust and just put the cat back on when I do get smogged.

It’s probably not a cat but a resonator

Is your exhaust carb compliant?

@Theonewhoisdrunk if it’s a catback exhaust no carb sticker is needed because it doesn’t mess with any emissions components

Hmmm. Might check the other part of the exhaust that looks like the resonator which is an extruded Reuleaux triangle.
The part in question looks like a cat on the inside with the appearance of 0.5mm by 0.5mm square veins.

I wouldn’t want to get a catless down pipe. Would throw codes but I do want to tune at some point.

Google the GM part number and find out what it is, I doubt it’s a cat if it didn’t have an o2 sensor after it.

Nah no O2 sensors only on the cat on the downpipe after the turbo.

dang. that’s okay, though! thanks for doing that

Pretty sure it isn’t a cat, look up the GM part number though just to be sure
Even if it’s not some dick might fail you on visual.

Now I understand, it’s a FWD car. makes so much more sense.

That’s why wheelspin at 90.

Haha. I should have mentioned that. Yeah it’s worst wheel drive. Did you check out his Instagram?

Yeah. That’s how I realized it wasn’t a Miata. I thought the dash was some custom thing and wanted to see more.

Yup. Same engine, but put in a FWD Ford Escort to make it the GT model.

Did you see anything interesting?

Nothing too interesting. I mean, he seems to do good work, but the megasquirt tuning for pops and bangs is kinda stupid imo.
