Australian conservative party tries to initiate internet filtering plan and then denies it

It was announced on the 5th of September by MP Paul Fletcher in a radio interview, plans to introduce a new internet filtering system on par with the UK pornography filter under the guise of protecting children.

"What we intend to do is work with the industry to arrive at an arrangement where the default is that there is a filter in the home device, the home network, that is very similar to the filters that are available today. This is very much about protecting children from inappropriate content, particularly pornography," - Paul Fletcher

As well as leaked documents of a brochure outlining the filtering system which was subsequently taken down.

Despite remarks months ago made by Joe Hockey in another radio interview, he promised there would never be a filtering system and the liberals would never spear head such a system.

Paul Fletcher's statements have been redacted and denied by the Party and said they weren't party policy.

For anyone who may not know Australia's official polling day to decide the next Prime Minister is tomorrow on the 7th Of September and I'm sure this was all coincidence and had absolutely nothing to do with this in anyway.

The goverments make too many excuses for censoring the internet. Whats next, filter videos of fanboys on youtube?

no-one should have vested interest when filtering the internet

hopefully they won't be able to pass it through the senate
