Australian court cracks down on illegal downloads,
Let's just hope that nobody gets sued millions of dollars in "Potential losses".
While I don't download illegally myself, I think this is a bad thing.
Blocking these websites is just another step towards mass internet censorship.
Besides, with the speed of australian internet, it's not like anyone can download enough to make an impact.
Australia is just trying their feet in the water, they could probably up with something to with " fake news" in the near future.
And also not just Australia, a lot of countries first implement banning pirating sites and then slowly, bring in other regulations.
This isn't really anything new
Looking forward to when they block websites which haven't received a classification, or when they block all porn sites because of their insane list of what the (mostly catholic) government thinks in inappropriate for you.
Although blocking isn't really the word I'd use to describe how this works, it's just a DNS redirect so as long as you're not using your ISP's DNS server then you can go to whatever site you like. For now.
