So I am wanting to get an idea for a good audio set up before cyber monday rolls around. I am wanting to get a nice headset for gaming. I am mainly after surround sound for fps games and sound quality for other things. I would also like a set that would be great for listening to music. My price point is ~$100. A little more isn't too bad, but less is preferable.
Without further ado, here are my concerns:
1)Could I use high quality stereo headphones (audio technica ath-m50s?) with a sound card and still get high quality surround sound?
2)What type of sound card would be best (internal vs. external)? My motherboard is asus p8z77-v lk so pci-e would be nice for internal.
3)Being a person that is just getting into the "audiophile" world, what terms should I be looking out for? I see a lot about "50mm drivers" and I get that it is the size of the drivers, but what does this actually mean for sound quality?
If anyone can leave a recommendation for headset+sound card combo, it would be greatly appreciated.
