ATI HD4350 won't boot?

Hi,

Context: Updating my Freenas build and I purchased Supermicro X8SAX (with Xeon X5660). The board doesn't have on board graphics so I purchased an ATI VGA card.

I tried the card with the Super Micro board and it seems to boot (fans running etc) but the GPU doesn't seem to output anything.

I tried the graphics card in my PC (built around Asus Z97 Deluxe) and seemed to have the same issue, everything powers on but doesn't boot/post (VGA LED light stays on after cycle). Leaving the ATI card installed, I connected a monitor to the MOBO and managed too boot into Windows. The card showed up in device manager and after 5 mins the drivers had installed and I could use the card to power a second display no problem.

The Super Micro MOBO also doesn't seem to be giving any "beeps", which I would expect in this situation. I've tried clearing the CMOS and I am now digging through the manual for clues..

It may be worth mentioning that I tried my Asus 1070 with the SuperMicro board and couldn't get that to work either. However I suspect that might be because I don't a 4 pin power connector for the PCI slots socket.

Here is the Manual for the SuperMicro Board if it helps: Manual

Any ideas?

Cheers,

so nothing works on the super micro motherboard and the ati card doesnt work on 2 mobo's. did you get these used?

Yes ATI Card doesn't work in either and Super Micro board isn't accepting either of the cards. I might try the ATI card with my old Desktop mobo. They were both off of ebay.

could it be you were sold broken parts? did you see the word "as is" anywhere?

GPU was listed as Brand New and the Motherboard was listed as used but fully working. If I cannot get the ATI card working tomorrow on my old MOBO, I will look to get it refunded.

time to get out your microscope/magnifying glass. give them a through look over, but dont remove then shroud on the gpu if it voids the warranty. you could just have a bad pci slot on the mobo and some unrelated issue with gpu like nvidias drivers throwing a fit about a ati card, but if you bought both of them recently and can return, i would do so. you bought them and theirs a problem and you dont have to know the exact cause of the problem to return it and get a new one.
