Athlon overclocking

I'm overclocking my athlon II x3 on my old ass gigabyte 790x I think it has like a 4 phase power design, I have a stock amd fan on top of the vrm heatsink and blowing on the vrms as well, I have a hyper 212, and a 400w psu with 2 20 amp 12v rails that apparently can work together to push 25 amps, I have another dell OEM psu with 2 18 amp rails, I also have a 6870 and 5400 2.5 drive in my current configuration I have the 400w plugged in the 24 pin and 4 pin with the dell oem one plugged I to the gpu and hddright now my Max prime 95 in line fft overclock is 226*15.5=3.5Ghz at 1.475v, tried  dropping the HT and NB multipliers does not net any more stability

can i change my setup any to get a higher oc or is my Board just too jank?  also I'm pretty much a bum so I can't really buy stuff so that's out

oh and I have 4x2gb 1600 9-9-9 1.65v ram.  also anyone have any am3/+ stuff or sandy bridge chips you want to get rid of (cheap), I have a z68 board I'd like to eventually use

on mobile so forgive formatting and random words

It's not really worth it to buy a better motherboard for it.

yeah that's why I can't really spend more than like 20 bucks, trying to get at least 3.7 for pcsx2 and dolphin

You could always solder your own VRM on the board.

I'd probably fuck it up, would disabling a core net me more headroom? like vrm wise, I'm like 44c Max on core temps

Could help, allowing for more of the little headroom you have to be put towards fewer cores, but with higher yield.

okay I only really need 2 anyway, I'll try this when I get home from work kinda wish I had a native x2 so each core would have 1mb L2 cache instead of 512kb

AAAAND it neted me 100Mhz higher OC, welp looks like I better start saving in case someone sells a sandy chip cheap

100mHz you didn't have before!

that might cut it for standard gaming but for emulators you have to have full 60 FPS to be playable or else the game will physically run slower
