I ordered a set of ATH-AD500x headphones on Amazon about 24 hours ago and then when checking out Massdrop I saw that they have the HiFiMAN HE-350 currently in the same price point.
Would you recommend I return the AT’s and get the HiFiMAN headset or stick with the AT’s?
I will be using these sets for gaming where positional audio is important and listening to primarily rock music.
Hifiman He350 is worth much more than the listed price. i would go for it.
At $99 the HE-350s are a bargain really...
They are supposidly fairly bright cans and don't have that much bass so that might sway your decision. They are nutral sounding which is a bonus as you can hear things as they are meant to be. Quality is up there for the cost though.
Major gribe with them for me is the fact they are dynamic (normal speaker) opposed to planar which is what HiFiMan is know for - my HE-560s are just other worldly compared to my previous cans.
So on that basis, if you are happy with the Audio Technica's I'd just stay with them and save the hassle of returning them for these.
Alternatively spend a little extra and grab a good used pair of HE-400s.
