Asus Z87I Pro doesn't post. (FIXED)

When I turn the computer on the CPU and GPU fans start to spin. No video is being output. The CPU lights up red on th debug table.
This is what I have tried so far.
-Changed the CPU with one that I know works.
-Placing the motherboard on the mobo's box with the bare essentials.
-Changing ram with a working set.
- Made sure the cables are in as they should
-Clearing CMOS.
-Pressing the MemOk button.

8Gb ram
Silverstone SFX-L 500W
GTX 960

Any help is greatly appreciated.

hey, did you try to connect display to motherboard and use integrated gpu ? Some motherboards need a bios update to work with newer processors.

reseat the cpu then.
But the 4460 is a haswell refresh chip, and Z87 is the older chipset.
Could be that you need a bios update before it supports the cpu.
With Asus boards you have a feuture called "USB flashback", which allows you to update the bios without a supported cpu installed.

Hmm, seems to be no mention of the vanilla 4460 on the asus cpu support page only the 'T' and 'S' variants. Of which need the 0903 revison BIOS update.

How usb flashback works.
Wendell did a short video.

Yes I tried to connect it via both the HDMI on the motherboard and on the GPU.

I reseated it like three times. I will update the BIOS once I get home.

I got it working. After hours trying to get USB BIOS flashback to work I found out that it was formatted to NTFS and for BIOS flashback to work it has to be FAT16/32.
Thanks!

And thanks to you too!

Good news ☺

After installing Windows 10 and installing all the drivers 10 out of the 12 USB ports stopped working.
I made a new thread as it wouldnt go under the same category.

This thread is fine, you can edit the topic tiltle eventualy.

It has a TOTAL of 12 usb ports.
Most of them are optional since Asus placed all kinds of damn video ports on there, which you don't need at all.

But they are not always included, either PCI expansion USB ports or front/3.5inch USB headers.

Ah yeah you are right.
Thanks.

I was confusing with an other Z87i board.
Probably the wrong driver or what not i suppose.

I'm reinstalling Windows atm. If it is still not working I guess Ill have to return it.

Got them working again. Must have been a glitch as this is the second one I own and I installed excactly the same drivers on the same OS.
Thanks for your input!
