Asus Sabertooth 990FX REV 2.0 VGA LED

Hi everyone!

I have just switches vases and ram modules. During boot up with the ram at the D.O.C.P optimal for the modules, the VGA LED on the board lights up and stays lit. I have been looking on the internet and all that i have found is DOA cards, but my card runs absolutely fine when the RAM is set to 1333Mhz...

Rig:

Asus Sabertooth 990FX rev 2.0

Asus Radeon HD 7970 DCII TOP

AMD 4170 @ 4.2 GHz

Corsair Dominator Platinum @ 1600 MHz

Corsair AX850 PSU

Has anyone Else had this issue?

Help is very much appreciated!

I have experience with overclocking on Asus' 990FX motherboards, and I can tell you that for some strange reason if the RAM Overclock is unstable then the VGA light will come on. It happened to me on both my M5a97 and my M5a99x Evo, b ut only when the ram wasn't stable.

Ok, does that mean there is something wrong with the RAM?

Thanks for the answer!

just looked back on your OP, and I think that your ram is unstable because what it sounds like is what would happen to me when my ram was unstable.

Try running your Ram at 1600mhz @1.5v

Sorry for the slow answer, was out of town and didn't check until now.

I'll try running the RAM @1.5v and come back with the results! :)

I attempted to run the ram @1.5v, no difference. Any other issues that might cause this to happen?
I should probably also point out that every time I clear the CMOS, the CPU led comes on, had to switch back to my stock cooler to fix that.
