Asus Sabertooth 990fx audio and microphone not working

The Asus 990FX Sabertooth R2.0 should be a great semi highend board. It should be great for overclocking realy. Idk why your sound is craped out on you.

I think you just have bad luck. i would personaly just contact Asus about it, there will help you.

You are right about that. This is the first time I ever had any problems with this motherboard. When I get the chance I'll be right on it. It has been treating me great up until now.

On that note I'm stopping by fry's electronics today to see if they have a soundcard I can get. I'll let you guys know if that is a solution that works.

Some mother board require you to bridge two pins on the front panel audio in order to work.

go to control panel>hardware and sound> under sound click manage audio devices .  go to sound and right click on realtek high definition audio and set it as default device. go to recording tab and go to recorder and under that says  realtek high definition audio. right click and set that as default device.

windows 7 is a pain in the ass wenn it comes to audio.

somethimes it does behaves weird

I did that and I have no luck :( Thanks for trying to help. While I was in there I also tried updating and rolling back the driver after I tried that. Still no luck :'(

Yeah... Windows and I have had serious issues back on an old build but it managed to work after I found the right setting or something. Now I have a completely new build aside from the RAM and this issue came after a few months into using this current build. I know its more than a windows problem because I booted into Lubuntu and had no luck there either :(

you can get a sound blaster audigy 2 for $20  ... give that a shot or an XFI or turtle beach or ???

ouch

Sabertooths were never known as having great audio ... but it should work at a rudimentary  level ...

have you tried a cheap set of USB headphones?

Thats kinda true, Its not the first topic that i read about failing audio on Sabertooths.

Which is kinda strange. maybe its a bad solder idk.
