Hey everyone,
New to this forum, but follow the channel and it seemed like a good place for more in-depth issues. I recently acquired an Asus RTX 5080 Astral OC as an upgrade for my RTX 3080 Ti. Also did a corresponding PSU upgrade to a Corsair RM1000x. Under duress, I am stuck with Windows 11 :P.
Almost immediately, I noticed cutouts and odd behavior in certain games like MSFS 2024, and Oblivion Remastered, though other, lighter games like FF14 work fine. Cranking down the GPU clock in MSI Afterburner failed to work, and lowering the power target didn’t seem to help much either. I was able to lower the clock (kind of), in Asus’s GPUTweak III, but the VBIOS doesn’t really want to respect it (setting 2620 Mhz and it’ll still hang around 2720 Mhz under load).
Does anyone know if it’s possible to flash the BIOS from the non-OC version of this card just so I get the stock clocks and stability? I could return it to Micro Center and try to see if they have a lower-tier TUF model, but would prefer not to jerk around with it. Honestly, this whole experience has been really disappointing as my Asus TUF 3080 Ti was a fantastic card, literally zero issues for four years.
