Asus r9 390 Help

I just built a new computer and in it I have an Asus r9 390, the DirectCU 3 version that has 3 fans. My idle temps are pretty much fine (or at least fine for me) but under load, I am hitting as high as 94c when playing games like metro last light redux, or skyrim with a decent amount of mods. The most worrying part to me is that when playing league, I am getting 80c... what should I do about this? Should I try changing the thermal paste, and adding in more system fans to cool it more directly, or should I just send it back and get a new one? Thanks.

Need to know a few things. How many fans and what case are you using? Secondly, how are the gpu's fans doing? Are they spinning up correctly? You can change the fan speed curve and make them spin up faster than they would otherwise.

Had a GPU before? Which? How were its temps? What case do you have? Give us some info yo.

I am using a deepcool tesseract, with a side window- it has two system fans, one in the front and one at the back to exhaust air. My graphics card fans are running automatically, but I just adjusted it manually to about 65%, and the temps are better in League. I'll probably play Metro or Skyrim and put them up to 80%, and see how it is.

It is possible that you aren't getting enough fresh air in the case, or that the fans aren't spinning up enough. I am pretty sure that it is supposed to wait until 65C before even turning on the fans at all, so I imagine that it is geared towards silence, leading to hot temps. Manually setting the fans would circumvent that though. If that doesn't fix it, then we are going to have to look at other causes.

I have only one fan bringing air into the case, and it is blowing mainly cool air in, around room temperature of 70-75f. I am going to get at least one more fan in and try to position it to blow almost directly onto the graphics card, but otherwise, will it be fine turning the fans up to 80-90% while playing more demanding games?

This is my second computer, my first one was an old hp from 2007- it had an hd 4650, and I only used it to play very easy games like League on low settings. I have no idea what the temps were, because I honestly didn't care about it.

Yeah i think manualy adjust the fan speed would be your best bet.
May i ask how loud he cooler gets at 80%?
Is it do-able or terrible?

I still dont realy get why Asus still doesnt seem to have their cooling units for AMD gpu´s right?
Sapphire does a way better job for that matter.

If temps are a concern throttle your gpu back a bit, say 1ghz and set a frame rate limit

you should see your temps drop a fair bit

I know its not ideal but its the best you can do without a better cooling solution

I never go about 60% with my gpu fans, the noise is just too horrendous.

At 80% or higher, it is quite loud. I think it is do-able, considering how loud my old computer was, but definitely not ideal.

Asus advertises this card as silent solution. Their default settings are Fans off until 60C. This GPU will never be cold. It was never designed to be cold.
Who has the best cooling / silence AMD videocards? SAPPHIRE.
Also, Stop buying Asus GPU's. They are bad. Have been for the last 2 years...
Msi Lightning, Sapphire Tri-X/VaporX, Gigabyte Windforce...
All good quiet cold cards...
