PCIe x16_1: Old NVIDIA GPU (top x16 slot)
PCIe x16_2: LSI Logic SAS 9211-8I (second x16 slot)
This configuration works fine. Have eight 8TB harddrives connected to the 9211. No hitches at all. Smooth operation. But when installing this to the system:
PCIe x16_3: LSI Logic SAS 9207-8E (bottom x16 slot)
The 9211 and its drives are no longer seen by the motherboard/BIOS, and the 9207 is not seen as well. When 9211 and 9207 are both installed, the lights on both turn on and their heatsinks are warm to touch, so they are receiving power and the 9207 is presumably functional, but the BIOS offers zero indication either are seen when both are installed. Removing the 9207 immediately returns full functionality of the 9211 and its eight connected harddrives.
I don’t know what the next attempt at getting this working should be. I feel like I’ve toggeld everything in the BIOS that can be toggled that could reasonably affect this, all to no avail. There used to be two NVMe drives installed, in a RAID0, but those drives have been removed/the array deleted and forgotten.
Do a CMOS reset, after tweaking so many options you may want to start afresh. Carefully read the manual, as there could be some PCIe address space limits playing out here. No idea what you use the GPU for, but it might be worth a try swapping that to the bottom slot and have both LSI cards in the top slots instead.
This sounds like a PCIE lanes problem. Seems like you have a bunch of stuff dependent on PCIE lanes, but seems as though the system doesn’t have enough lanes for the card you’re using .
In my case, if I try to use my R3 3200 CPU with this board, which only has 16 lanes, it disables PCIE slot 2. However, when I switch the CPU to my R7 3700X all slots are available. Maybe try disabling something on the board that uses PCIE bus lanes that you’re not using?
I have a an ASUS Pro WS X570-ACE m/b with 3900x CPU and Patriot Viper Steel Series DDR4 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MHz . In PCIe_1 I have a Asus Nvidia (CERBERUS-GTX1070TI-A8G.
In PCIe_2 I want to install a LSI MegaRAID 9261-8i 8-port PCI-E 6Gb/s SATA/SAS RAID Controller Card.
What BIOS settings would you recommend for this to operate?
