Any sign of support for Thunderbolt 3 in the BIOS on this board? No mention anywhere by ASUS so assuming “No.”
Please refer to this thread, no happening anytime soon. OEM is the way to go, Lenovo’s etc, that have AMD and TB3. Personally, my goal is avoid TB until real add-in card are available and drivers have been opened for all platforms. (AM5 and alder-lake onward), no point in pursuing in current platforms. (imho, I know many members [welcome btw] are looking for direction on this topic, but with intel locking down their own bios’, omitting drivers for prosumers, it becomes difficult to look fondly upon them in this regard).
Gigabyte AMD TRX40 Designare rev 1.1 with the add-in TB 3 card has been rock-solid for me. Doesn’t get much attention for some reason. I see Gigabyte’s WRX80 board will support TB3. Seems ASUS has given up? Last implementation on ASUS I had was a bit of a nightmare to configure and keep alive.
Precisely, prosumer and workstation motherboards within their respective manufacturer’s have a spotty history of TB support. (I can under stand HP, Lenovo dictating their relevancy with options available to its users). It does bring me some solace to hear of your successes on that platform.
This should not apply so much for the Asrocks, Gigabyte, ECS’, Biostar’s, Asus’ and the likes, should have been more straight forward at least have a decade ago, yet here we are all scattered online forums for any such info (not always) wasted hours to make functional things users have paid for.
Seen many server board with TB support? If I’m not mistaken, probably not. Why? Not worth the hassle. Surely their programmers do not want to be doing the work intel and usb alliance should have accomplished. [sorry for the rant]
I can second this. Been running a designare since launch day with tb. My use case is pedestrian but it has worked fine aside from the windows store/driver versions giving me grief
BTW, what’s the best course of action to avoid DCH drivers? I’m on NVM23 + some Mac patches and that firmware version on Titan Ridge works better with the older drivers.
