ASUS Pro WS WRX80E-SAGE SE WIFI - [Q-Code 22]

Having issues with my new ASUS Pro WS WRX80E-SAGE SE WIFI motherboard, everything is brand new except for the CPU (specs below). BMC IPMI works however, the system itself is not posting past Q-Code 22. Mixed messages on what the code is. Wanted to see if anyone has an idea. Removed sticks of RAM but still getting the code. Thoughts?

MOBO: ASUS Pro WS WRX80E-SAGE SE WIFI (BIOS ver.1003)
CPU: AMD Threadripper Pro 3975WX
RAM: Nemix ECC DDR4-3200 R-DIMM 32GB (256GB Total)

Update as of 04/02/2023 - 1841 EST: Continuing to troubleshoot my system, still getting Q-Code 22. Re-seated CPU, removed all but x1 stick of Nemix ECC RAM R-DIMM then swapped with Micron Non-ECC U-DIMM. Removed all PCI-E cards and added a NVidia Quadro P400 that doesn’t need additional power. Nothing is plugged into the SATA or U.2 ports, the only drives are the M.2 NVME Gen x3 SSD (x3). Still searching for answers.

Update as of 04/05/2023 - 1833 EST - Unfortunately no change or at least getting passed Q-Code 22. After speaking with an ASUS customer representative, it was recommended to send the board for RMA as it could potential be a hardware issue with the board. Its as who know how long the board was sitting in their warehouse. It was brought up that the CPU could be vendor locked, it is a sound idea, but, my thought is if that is the case, the system shouldn’t get passed the CPU check. Or at least so sort of video indicating invalid CPU or something to that effect. Just waiting to when and where I can send the board to be looked at. I’ll keep everyone posted once I find out more info.

Update as of 04/11/2023 - 0005 EST - In the process of sending back the AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 3975wx as I got it used, the pricing was very favorable which is why I got it. But being that it was bought used & it was the only component that was bought used. I might as well spend just a little more for a 5975wx variant new just for a piece of mind. Still sending the motherboard to ASUS to have it looked at just in case to cover all basis. Will keep everyone posted as soon as I get the new CPU as well as the return of the motherboard.

Update as of 05/25/2024 - 2006 EST - Good day everyone, just an update (I know almost a year later lol). Any who, ASUS RMA my motherboard, no longer getting Q-CODE 22, at the moment it’s at C5 (RAM training). Also sent back the CPU when I sent the motherboard for RMA just in case it may have been vendor locked. This time around I got a 3995wx 64c/128t that’s not vendor locked. So just waiting for the training to finish. But it looks like everything should work. I’m testing everything out before I close up my 4U server chassis. If possible, I suggest, if you get Q-CODE 22, get it RMA as soon as possible. If you do, make sure to remove the M.2 standoffs or whatever other accessories. As they won’t be returned. Here’s my insight and experience. Hopefully this helps others.

Have you tried booting with just one stick of memory? It could also be a CPU seating issue, so potentially reseating that might also help.

CPU re-seated, ran system with just one stick of RAM (Nemix (Samsung Chips) ECC R-DIMM & Micron non-ECC Unbuffered).

Depending on where you bought your CPU, it’s possible that it could be vendor locked. I’m not sure what code would be displayed if it was the case tho.

It is a distinct possibility, but in theory, if that was the case, it would not get passed the CPU check and/or it would post to the point to show the CPU is invalid? Either way, reached out to ASUS and suggested to have the motherboard be sent to be looked at. Currently waiting for the RMA instructions. Board purchased a couple of months ago so very new & of course under warranty.

Hello, how are you all

how do i end the problem? did you solve it?
