So i'm looking in a buying a asus pb278q and was wondering how it performs in fps games?
If you are a hardcore fps player, 120hz on 1080p might be a better choice. However, if you want best image quality and a decent response time for the res, than that monitor is perfect. Ask Berserker. He has it, and has convinced me to drop some money on it as well.
i'm not a hardcore player but do you think i could play some battlefield 4 and not be at a huge disadvantage?
No, unless your using a vga monitor with like a 15ms response time, it will not put you at a disadvantage. The monitor is absolutely fantastic, and compared to other monitors, cheaper for the same thing.
I have that monitor, and it doesn't ruin my shooting proficiency. I can play just as well as any of these "hardcore" FPS players.
Except we're not hardcore... We're softcore... We're soft butter.
I can't believe it's not butter!
I can't either :O
Well this spiraled out of control quickly lol.
In all honesty, a 1440p IPS panel just has a better value across different PC functions, in my point of view.
More than satisfactory gaming experience, better for movies, better for editing. No need to calibrate it, great colours out of the box. No screen glare, nor backlight bleed. Solid quality. Easy to put together. All the conenctions you could need, and they include different types of power adaptors.
In games, you will notice things like motion blur, but only if you really look for it. Like violently shaking your mouse to actually notice that lag.
i don't think it will be a problem for me at all since i have never used a 120hz monitor to compare it too, ignorance is bliss.
Yeah, it won't be anything that you're not used too. Most people don't even recognise motion blur. Not until they have been shown, at least. So for the most part, it is kind of hard to notice.
Correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure 1440p has more than double the pixels than 1080p. You could watch a 1080p trailer and still have other windows open. Quite nice if i do say so myself.
Yeah, it does have the productivity thing going for it. You can orientate the screen 90 degrees. I'm sure that'll be useful for coders, or photo editors.
I found the screen size to be helpful when I had to write an essay for a job opportunity. I had a word document open in the middle of the screen, and two web pages, one either side. I always find that switching from window to window makes me procrastinate, I start searching YouTube because I forgot what I was doing. So being able to see all that information at once just keeps me focused.
